Strategic Plan 2006-2011

In a collaborative process, the Strategic Planning Team identified the following three strategic objectives to guide the leadership of Saint Joseph Academy toward achieving the vision for the future.  These objectives are viewed as the three most important areas of focus during the next 5 years in which human, financial and administrative resources will be invested.

1. Funding the Vision- Ensure sufficient capitalization for the continuation and advancement of the school’s mission by focusing on the crucial areas of strategic planning, fact-based enrollment, financial forecasting, sound fiscal stewardship, and assertive resource development.

  • This strategic objective focuses on:
  • Creating a comprehensive capitalization plan
  • Defining and achieving target endowment growth
  • Defining and achieving target enrollment levels
  • Meeting increasing demands for tuition assistance
  • Competing assertively for non-tuition revenues
  • Maximizing philanthropic giving from all constituencies, including the community at large and surrounding areas
  • Defining and achieving the appropriate tuition policy
  • Defining and achieving the appropriate debt philosophy
  • Implementing a process for projecting resource requirements
  • Improving budget accountability and management processes

2. School of Choice/Culture of Excellence-Become the school of first choice to a diverse student population by conducting programs of excellence that promote active leadership, and by focusing on their spiritual, educational, social, and physical maturation.

This strategic objective focuses on:

  • Ensuring that the school will offer an excellent academic program without parallel in Brownsville
  • Ensuring that the faculty and students participate fully in the spiritual life of the school community
  • Ensuring that all students will experience leadership opportunities
  • Ensuring that appropriate space, equipment, and technology are available to achieve excellence
  • Recruiting, retaining, and celebrating a diverse student body
  • Recruiting and retaining quality leadership, faculty, and staff
  • Create and implement a comprehensive alumni program to increase alumni support and participation

3. Marketing and Promotion- Implement a confident, mission-focused promotional and public relations effort that achieves the preferred identity within the school’s targeted markets—current and prospective students, current and prospective faculty, alumni, philanthropists, and the extended Brownsville community.

This strategic objective focuses on:

  • Assertively promoting the mission and vision of the school
  • Creating and achieving the school’s desired identity and “brand” in its targeted markets
  • Competing assertively for the right students, faculty, leadership, and philanthropic resources
  • Creating the desired image through public relations and marketing
