Montagne Scholars Program
Inaugurated in August 2005, The Montagne Scholars Program is Saint Joseph Academy’s initiative to enroll and maintain at-risk, economically disadvantaged, academically-qualified students by providing optimal amounts of financial aid and ongoing academic and social support.
The Montagne Scholars Program, in partnership with Guadalupe Regional Middle School (GRMS), has served more than 80 students to date, creating access for low-income families to the uniquely effective and transformative education that only a Catholic school can provide. Without this partnership, a Catholic education would simply not be possible for these students.
Your gift of academic rigor, college preparedness, faith formation, and a network of masterful professionals does not go unappreciated by Montagne Scholars. Montagne Scholars treasure their experience, participate fully, and consistently describe being a Bloodhound as an honor. Since 2010, five Montagne Scholars have earned a spot in the top 10% of their class. We’ve also had one Salutatorian, one Marist Heritage Award winner, and one President’s Medal winner. Our Montagne Scholars have gone on to study at schools like Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Columbia, UT-Austin, Texas A&M, Boston University, St. Mary’s University, and Alaska Pacific University, to name just a few.
This is what it means to be Marist. Over the years, through the generosity of foundations, organizations, and people like you, SJA has sustained this important tradition of providing tuition assistance for Montagne Scholars. As we continue this partnership, your investment in these amazing students is more important than ever. With your help, we have the opportunity to change the course of their lives and break the cycle of poverty.
As we begin a new school year, we need your help to ensure that each Montagne Scholar has the access and opportunity to receive a quality, Catholic education that we all know SJA provides?
Much has changed in the 12 years since Saint Joseph Academy launched the Montagne Scholars Program, but the same uncertainty for these economically at-risk students remain. Today’s Montagne Scholars can reach their full potential at Saint Joseph Academy and they need your support. Please consider a commitment to sponsor a Montagne Scholar and help transform a life!
