Saint Joseph Academy is pleased to announce that Meme Garza ‘68  has agreed to donate his time to serve as Director of Strategic Engagement and Donor Relations. Throughout his 50+ year relationship with the school (as a student, faculty member, and coach) Mr. Garza has held various positions at SJA and has successfully nurtured relationships with generations of students and families alike. In his new position, Mr. Garza will be working in collaboration with the Office of the President and Academy Advancement to strengthen and deepen the school’s relationship with stakeholders, alumni, and families. The position was created as another opportunity to share updates and connect and engage graduates and families with the school.

“I’m grateful that the school president has allowed me to remain relevant at St. Joe,” says Garza. “I think it’s obvious that I love Saint Joseph Academy. I love its greatness and embrace its imperfections. St. Joe is a unique and wonderful place and I just want to get our alumni and community to fall in love with St. Joe all over again.” With plans on resurrecting many traditions and asking graduates for their time and talent, Garza hopes that Saint Joseph Academy’s history remains vital to the Brownsville community. “There’s a lot of history behind the school and I want to make sure that the history is alive and well,” says Garza.
