What is Performing Arts?
The mission of SJA Performing Arts is to prepare 7-12th grade students who have strong personal interest in the arts to successfully pursue higher learning and a profession in an ever-changing world, no matter their course of study. We will help students discover and develop their unique skills and talents through an intense, integrated arts program with high standards that combines critical thinking and a whole-person developmental approach to using their talents both on and off stage. Participation for the performing arts club is year round as we have productions and rehearsals happening throughout the school year.
While SJA Performing Arts is new in its' format here at Saint Joseph Academy, we are already one of the strongest performing arts organizations for high school in the Brownsville Area. Students are going to get not just a taste of theatre, but a professional experience and education while producing great work.
Why should you join?
The performing arts can encourage students to explore their emotions, expand their imagination and help them develop their own, unique voice. Each discipline, music, dance and theatre engage our brains, bodies and emotions in different ways to encourage confidence and find joy in self-expression.
